Dennoch sieht man in Gaza immer wieder Menschen baden.  >>>

Why Israel censored reporting on the Jordan embassy shooting - Deutsche Welle - According to Israel`s government, an Israeli security guard opened fire after a 17-year-old Jordanian, who had entered the embassy complex to replace furniture, attacked him with a screwdriver. Israeli embassy compound in Jordan hit by deadly attack But reports on Jordanian media suggest that it wasn`t the Jordanian workman who attacked the guard, but that he himself was shot by the guard during an argument between the two. Although there was no official gag order issued by the court, the Israeli Military Censor did not allow the incident to be published on local media - a rule all media outlets in the county are bound to when reporting about security issues.>>>

Dear friend, We are excited to announce the full launch of our new bi-lingual BDSmovement.net website. We launched a version of the site last year and we’re delighted that the site is now fully online in both Arabic and English.

Our new What is BDS? page explains our movement, its key demands and central successes in a simple and accessible way.

Our
Get Involved section is a hub for action, connecting supporters of Palestinian rights to online campaigns, local groups and ideas for actions they can take in their own communities.

Under Campaigns, you can explore what activists and unions are doing to support the struggle for Palestinian rights. You can also learn about important global campaigns that are led by the BDS movement.

Can you help us build more effective campaigning resources with a small donation to the Palestinian BDS National Committee, the Palestinian leadership of the BDS movement?

This launch of the new BDS movement website in Arabic and English was one of many achievements made possible by generous donations from supporters like you, firmly committed to the Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and equality.
We have big plans to grow our movement across the world, launch our website in new languages, including Spanish, and develop even more effective campaigns to hold Israel accountable, along with companies and institutions complicit in its violations of Palestinian human rights.
Can you help us make these plans a reality by donating to the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC)?
July 9, 2017 marks 12 years since the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement was born. It’s been 12 years since an impressively large and diverse coalition across Palestinian civil society surmounted incredible odds to unify around three basic Palestinian rights and a nonviolent, inclusive, anti-racist path of struggle to achieve them. Despite the fragmentation, military occupation, segregation and dispossession, we came together to assert our people’s right to freedom, justice, equality and dignity.

The 2005 BDS Call embodies overwhelming Palestinian support for demanding an end to Israel’s military occupation and the dismantling of its illegal wall, an end to its institutionalized and legalized system of racial discrimination which meets the UN definition of apartheid, and the right of refugees to return to their homeland as stipulated in international law.

Inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement and the American Civil Rights Movement, entities representing Palestinians everywhere called on people of conscience worldwide to adopt pressure tactics in support of our struggle for rights. BDS calls for boycott and divestment initiatives in the academic, cultural, economic and sports fields and for pressuring states to implement meaningful sanctions against Israel until it fully complies with its obligations under international law. >>>

Rabbi Rosen’s final mourning - Marc H. Ellis- This is part of Marc H. Ellis’s “Exile and the Prophetic” feature for Mondoweiss. To read the entire series visit the archive page.

What to do with a rabbi who, for the upcoming Tisha B’Av. a Jewish fast day commemorating the destruction of the ancient Temples in Jerusalem, uses the Biblical Book of Lamentations as a starting point for his dark, poetic vision of a post-apocalyptic world? And, to thicken the plot, as Palestinians in Jerusalem and elsewhere rage against the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque where the Temples stood.

I first encountered Rabbi Brant Rosen in 2011 when he came to my defense during the travails I experienced at my university under the “Christian” presidential leadership of the since demoted/resigned/fired Ken Starr. It was all a blur at the time and I only read his strong and uncompromising support years later.

Rabbi Rosen resurfaced on my radar screen during the Israeli invasion and decimation of Gaza in 2014. As I recall, it was August and across my Facebook screen I watched him with several congregants protest at a fundraiser for Israel involving the mayor of Chicago and Jewish institutional leaders from across the city. >>>

Bitter Palestinian rivalry adds to the agony of Gaza’s vulnerable - Sarah Helm - Kidney dialysis, intensive care and neonatal units are all in crisis. The Palestinian Authority in Ramallah on the West Bank has refused to pay for medicines, which are now critically depleted even for those in most need. Payments due to Israel each time patients are transferred are also being blocked, so that babies in need of critical care as well as cancer patients are refused permits to leave for treatment in the West Bank and Israel. Doctors say 10 cancer patients who have died in the past month could have been saved if they had been transferred >>>

Playing with fire: Israel’s sweeping disregard for the wellbeing and security of East Jerusalem residents has led to four fatalities and dozens of injuries, and disrupted the lives of tens of thousands of residents - B`Tselem - Press release - Testimonies gathered by B’Tselem as well as video footage published in the media indicate that the police used excessive and unjustified force against the worshippers. B’Tselem’s investigation shows that in at least one instance during Friday noon prayers in the Ras al-‘Amud area of East Jerusalem police began firing crowd control means as soon as the prayers ended. According to the Red Cross, between Friday, 14 July 2017 and Sunday, 23 July 2017, approximately 120 persons were taken to Jerusalem hospitals to be treated for various injuries: tear-gas inhalation, gunshot wounds from rubber-coated metal bullets, other physical trauma. At least two people were injured by direct hits from stun grenades and teargas canisters, one was hit in the eye by a rubber-coated metal bullet, and one was injured by shrapnel from a stun grenade >>>
