Gaza Blockade Preventing Vital Reconstruction - Two years since the outbreak of the 2014 war that cost the lives of 1,492 Palestinian civilians, including 551 children, much of the Gaza Strip remains in ruins. Entire neighborhoods remain cut off from water supplies, destroyed hospitals and clinics have not yet been rebuilt, and tens of thousands remain without a home.

While some reconstruction has progressed, the situation in Gaza remains dire. Less than 10% of the 11,000 homes that were completely destroyed during the 51 day bombardment have been rebuilt. As a result of the war and the impact of the blockade imposed in 2007 by Israel, more than 75,000 Palestinians in Gaza still have no home to return to.

“Two years since the beginning of the war, the blockade is severely impeding reconstruction and recovery in Gaza. Unless it is lifted, Palestinians living in Gaza will be unable to move on with their lives and live in freedom, dignity, and safety,” Oxfam Country Director Chris Eijkemans said, according to the PNN. >>>

Israelis don't get to hold a referendum on Palestine - Michael Schaeffer Omer-Man - A recent poll found that if there were a Brexit-style referendum over whether to maintain Israeli control over the West Bank, most Israelis would choose ‘remain.’ But is that up to Israelis to decide?

If there were a referendum in Israel about whether to “leave” the West Bank — while holding onto most of the settlements — only 41 percent of Israelis would vote “leave.” If you narrow that down to Israel’s Jewish citizens, a mere 36 percent would vote “leave,” according to June’s Peace Index poll, published by the Israel Democracy Institute earlier this week.

And who would have a say in such a referendum? Well, the “Peace Index” pollsters only asked Jewish Israelis that question. Just over 50 percent of them said all Israeli citizens should get a vote, 44 percent said only Jews should have a say.

The framing of the question and those allowed to answer it — of whether or not the Israeli army should continue occupying 2.5 million Palestinians — along >>>

Israeli commander testifies: soldier unjustified in point-blank Hebron execution -  An Israeli army commander testified on Wednesday in the ongoing trial of Elor Azarya, an Israeli soldier accused of shooting and killing a prone Palestinian in Hebron in March, saying that there was no justification for the shooting, which has been labeled by the UN as an "extrajudicial execution."

Col. Yariv Ben Ezra, the highest ranking commander in the case, reportedly told the military tribunal that Abd al-Fatah al-Sharif did not pose any danger to life when Azarya killed him.

Ezra testified that he had never seen a soldier "depart so extremely from the [Israeli army’s] rules of engagement" as Azarya did in the Hebron shooting, according to Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post.

Al-Sharif was shot and wounded alongside Ramzi Aziz al-Qasrawi on March 24 after the two allegedly stabbed and moderately wounded an Israeli soldier near a military checkpoint in the Tel Rumeida area in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron. Al-Qasrawi was also killed on the scene in contested circumstances which Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has claimed may also constitute an execution.

A video released on the day of the shooting showed Israeli medics tending to the wounded soldier while ignoring al-Sharif for several minutes, before Azarya stepped forward and put a bullet through his head. >>>

Amsterdam in Solidarity with Bilal Kayed and Palestinian Prisoners (PHOTOS) - People in Amsterdam, the Netherlands expressed their solidarity with Palestinian prisoner Bilal Kayed, on hunger strike since 15 June in protest of his administrative detention without charge or trial following the expiration of his 14.5-year sentence in Israeli prisons.

The solidarity photos were taken in Amsterdam on 4 July, at Shir Hever: the military relations between the Netherlands/EU and Israel, by Studenten voor Rechtvaardigheid in Palestina – Amsterdam. SRP worked with Samidoun and other organizations to protest in The Hague on 25 June to demand freedom for Kayed and an end to state pension benefits for illegal settlers in the West Bank, part of the Global Days of Action to free Kayed.

The expression of solidarity comes as part of the lead-up to the week of action in solidarity with Bilal Kayed on 8-15 July, with events taking place across Palestine as well as in New York; Tampa, Florida; Arklow, Ireland; Manchester >>>

Ashrawi Denounces Plans to Expand West Bank Settlements - PLO Executive Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Tuesday, strongly denounced Israel’s plan to expand three illegal Israeli settlements around the Jerusalem area, by building hundreds of residential units to accommodate more Israeli settlers.

She said, in a press release, “We strongly denounce plans by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman to build 560 units in the illegal settlement of Maale Adumim and 240 units in the illegal settlements of Ramot, Gilo and Har Homa. “

Ashrawi said, according to WAFA, that the Israeli government is bent on destroying the viability, integrity and territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital simply by isolating Jerusalem from its Palestinian environs and ethnically cleansing the occupied city of its indigenous population. >>>

FIFA: Give Israeli Settlements the Red Card - As concerned citizens from across the Middle East, North Africa, South Africa, and the world, we ask you to uphold FIFA’s own rules and provide fair recommendations to evict Israeli settlement teams from FIFA. There should be zero tolerance for the six teams that flagrantly ignore international law and operate in occupied territory. Settlement football teams legitimise the illegal occupation and condones the suffering the Palestinians face as a result.

Six Israeli football clubs play in stadiums on stolen Palestinian land, and Israel’s military prevents Palestinian players, and their fans, from setting foot in them!

But we may be just days away from stopping this injustice. FIFA laws prohibit using another country’s land without consent, and South African FIFA official Tokyo Sexwale just led a delegation to the region to investigate.

Israel is trying to persuade him to do nothing. But if enough of us raise our voices and make this a massive issue in South Africa, where solidarity with Palestine has a long history, we could push FIFA To hold the Israeli Football Association accountable. But we have to make this big fast. >>>

Remembering Elie Wiesel, who inspired me to write about Palestine Activism - Kali Rubaii - Around the day of his death, the city of Khalil (Hebron) was locked down completely. Power lines were destroyed in Gaza. Several Palestinian people were run over and killed by settlers. It was the two-year anniversary of Mohammed Abu Khdeir’s death, a child who had been forced to drink kerosene and was lit on fire by settlers. Images of barbed wire, open air prisons, checkpoints… they resemble the scenes described of the pre-holocaust architectures and social tensions in Europe. One friend posted: “Elie Wiesel was a Nobel Laureate and a holocaust survivor but he was also a hypocrite and a racist Zionist who supported settlement construction and the ethnic cleansing and oppression of the native Palestinians.” >>>

-Kinder sollten nicht nachts verhaftet werden, außer in extremen und ungewöhnlichen Umständen;
-Eltern sollten sofort vom Grund der Verhaftung und dem Ort der Haft benachrichtigt werden;
-Kindern sollten niemals die Augen verbunden oder mit einer Kapuze verhüllt werden;
-einzelne Plastikhandfesseln sollten nie benutzt werden;
-Kinder sollten nicht auf dem Boden von Fahrzeugen transportiert werden;
-Kinder sollten zum Zeitpunkt der Verhaftung über ihr Schweigerecht informiert werden;
-Kinder sollten sich vor dem Verhör mit einem Anwalt beraten;
-Kinder sollten während dem Verhör von einem Elternteil begleitet werden;
